Telecom operator Idea Cellular has launched two Android-based budget smartphones, Blade and id280, hoping to increase usage of the 3G services in the country. The Blade has been priced at Rs. 7,992, while the id380 comes for Rs. 5,850. Both the Idea smartphones run Android 2.2 Froyo operating system.

As a special introductory offer, Idea Cellular is offering its 3G data services worth Rs. 3,500 with a Rs. 259 pack. This means Idea's 3G users can get the id280 (originally priced at Rs. 5,850) for Rs. 2,609 and the Blade (originally priced at Rs. 7,992) for Rs. 4,751. The Rs. 259 pack includes free subscription to Idea TV for 3 months, 1GB of data download per month for 3 months and talktime of Rs. 25. The offer is valid for both Idea post-paid and pre-paid customers.

The Idea Blade and id280 have several common features including Android 2.2 OS, 3.2MP camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS navigator, FM Radio, MP3 Player, integrated social media apps, Opera Mini Browser and Idea TV. Moreover, the two smartphones can also act as Wi-Fi routers. The two Idea smartphones, however, have different screen sizes. According to reports, the Idea id280 is re-branded version of the Huawei Ideos X1, while the Idea Blade is re-branded version of the ZTE Blade.
